Preschool/Kindergarten

 

Potters Private School uses the Montessori method of education with carefully designed materials. The curriculum for Montessori Nursery (3-6 years) include:

  • Practical life training: these are activities to assist the child in developing a sense of order, personal pride, concentration, grace and courtesy, fine motor skills, respect for others, confidence and self esteem.
  • Culture and Science: through photographs, puzzles and art, the children study Geography, Zoology, Botany and History.
  • Sensorial Development & Music Enrichment: activities are arranged to help children understand the information they receive from the environment. The child is able to understand the world around him.
  • Language Arts: a child is taught is phonetic reading and writing and poetry.
  • Mathematics: through the use of materials, the child learns to count and progresses to solve complex problems.

Key Stage One (Reception, Years One and Two)

Using the British Curriculum, children are taught the following subjects; Mathematics, History, English, Music, Information Technology, French, Arts & Craft, Science, Geography, Agricultural Science and Elocution.

 

Key Stage Two ( Years Three to Six)

All the subjects mentioned above are taught including Poetry and Creative Writing.

 

Homework

The amount of homework given to a child depends on his age. Through this, children are encouraged to develop the habit of studying. Parents too are encouraged to ensure that their children complete their homework each day.
